5 WAYS TO SILENCE YOUR NEGATIVE SELF-TALK

6 Lessons, 12 Milestones, and 10 Years Later

As I reflect on what’s most important to me on this 10th Business Anniversary, I am very much aware that most businesses do not make it past the second or third year—so celebrating a tenth business anniversary is a pretty BIG FREAKING DEAL!

I decided to celebrate by pausing, looking back, and documenting some of my FAVORITE MOMENTS AND LESSONS IN MY TEN YEARS OF BUSINESS.

I’ll start by saying, building a thriving business while serving amazing businesses and business owners are at the top of my list! It’s been a pleasure and an honor working with you guys.

I started in the traditional route of getting an Accounting degree, climbing the corporate ladder until I achieved the ‘C’ level—Chief Financial Officer or Chief Operating Officer. Then in 2010, I faced a life-altering decision when I got the news that my grandmother had been hospitalized.

With bits of uncertainty and elation equally mixed, I left my corner office in exchange for my home office. This fantastic choice created more flexibility in my work schedule, and I was able to be more present for my family, especially grandma. [Best decision I ever made].

On August 20th, 2010, I walked out of my corporate job and walked into my entrepreneurial journey

From Corporate Employee >> Consultant >> Online Strategy Coach

I’ve learned so much about what it takes to start, run, and grow a business. I’m excited to share some of my TOP favorite moments and lessons with you.

FAVORITE SIGNIFICANT MOMENTS:

·       MY NETWORK: Realizing My Consulting Clients Were Already In My Existing Network.

  • FIRST CLIENTLanding My First Consulting Client

  • RESULTS: Hearing From Clients I Had Helped Them Get Results

  • PAYCHECK: Putting myself on the payroll

  • GROWTH: I grew my consulting business quickly, and entered the social media space in 2016. I had no clue that I was getting into a new world where they spoke a different language and that my decision would push me beyond my comfort zone every day!

Like many of you, I started at ZERO and then started with a FIRST

  • Zero social media presence

  • Zero online marketing skills

  • Zero ideas where to start or how

  • Zero following

  • Zero offers

  • Zero dollars earned

All these were on Day 1. And then—I got busy

  • Created my first social media account: Facebook

  • Hired my first online marketing coach

  • Opened a Facebook group

  • Offered free discovery calls to practice

  • Created my first 1:1 coaching offer

  • Enrolled in a group program to learn to grow my list

  • Got my first OPT-in subscriber (the birth of my email list)

  • The birth of my online business took on a life of its own.

Are you impressed yet? There’s more:

  • LIVE VIDEO: I went live on Facebook for the first time, and the earth didn’t explode!

  • STARTED TO SHOW UP AS ME: I danced during a Live Facebook event to celebrate a milestone in my business!

  • REBRANDING: I rebranded my website, and social media handles from a business name to MY NAME.

  • TRUE FRIENDSHIPS AND CONNECTIONS: I connected online with people on a deeper level and made real friends, which has been one of my biggest surprises in running this online business.

MY TOP LESSONS

  • MINDSET: You have to work on your mindset, consistently. You’re never done.

  • INVEST: Invest in yourself as well as in your business. You cannot successfully grow or sustain your company based only on what you know now.

  • TEFLON: Be like Teflon, and don’t let any of those negative comments or trolls stick to you. Roll-off, baby!

  • IMPERFECT ACTION: Done is better than perfect. I had to push through the fear and do it imperfectly.

  • COMPARISON: I learned to stop comparing myself to others; there is only one me. Comparisonitis is real!

  • SHOW UP: Show up for yourself, show up for your business and show up for that ONE person who needs to hear from you today!

I wanted to make a difference, design a life, and a business that would allow me to have flexibility and freedom, without sacrificing my personal life or home.

I believed in myself, and I bet on myself; I still do.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to have a business where I can create the company I want, work with the people I want, and offer the services that I love.

Thank you for being part of my journey, part of my story and part of my success. Your success is my success!
